For this season Eytys has worked with photographer and visual artist Sasha Kurmaz. Starting his artistic path as a graffiti artist, Kurmaz describes his work as ”photographic” regardless the medium; installations, paintings, video or producing photo zines.
Still living and working from the Ukranian capital, Kurmaz’s work is political yet intimate, which is reflected through his sexual and bizarre photographic diary juxtaposing nudes together with romantic still lives and brutal Stalinist architecture.
For Eytys SS’15 collection Kurmaz created patterns echoing slogans from the current Ukranian turmoil, urging pro- democracy and calling for civil rights. These patterns are seen on the Eytys Spring/Summer 2015 collection of printed sneakers, packaging and installations.
