The Garbstore S/S 2010

Yesterday we gave you a look The Garbstore's really cool illustrated spring/summer 2010 campaign.

Now here's a look at the actual garments that we carry from Garbstore for this season:

The Officer's Shirt is a truly classic style made of the most amazing japanese made patchwork fabric. It is a double face cotton cloth that is patchwork woven into a single design. This is a perfect fitting shirt with loads of vintage design features, such as moon style back yoke & a tie strap in the front. A definite must!

Garbstore calls their garments "Modern Replicas" & this track button up cardi definetly fits the description with it's naval style shawl collar, ribbed front pockets & outside overlock seams. Made in a superb, vintage looking premium 450g heavy cotton fleece, the style is just as vintage as it is modern.

These vintage french farmer style chino slacks are the perfect trousers for the season. It is a fantastic, tapered fit & features nice vintage details such as a removable cinch back & double loop belt loops. All done in a super soft high quality chino twill fabric.

The Garbstore's French Naval Shorts are a great garment that is based on a french 1940's bibbed naval trouser. While the bib has been removed, the front pocket plates & lowered front fly loop are made in the same style. Nicely finished with repro English "Brummie" style metal buttons

Jeans, A Faded Blue Planet

A Faded Blue Planet is an interesting upcoming documentary about the garment we all have some kind of a relationship with, Jeans. It features an indept interview with Levi's historian Lynn Downey & also showcases the difference between the artisanal denim manufacturing in Japan & mainstream denim production among many other very interesting things.

Sson 028 Fixie

As you remember we featured the Sson 028 fixed gear bicycle in last week's Fit of the Week. We've since recieved a lot of questions both on line & in store regarding the bike, so we met up with Tobias from Sson to tell us a little bit about their 028 fixie bike:

"We wanted to make a bicycle that is as generic & timeless as possible, using both modern and vintage design features for that custom made feeling. We chose a straight fork both out of aesthetic & functional reasons as it makes for a quicker sensation. In fact, all angles on the Sson 028 are true track bike angles. The frame is made using CroMo steel 4130 & all intersections on the frame are tig welded except one that is lugged. We also incorporated the timeless aesthetic of the bicycle by using a fashionable N.Y. style 41 cm cut off riser handlebar & connecting it to a drop stem & vintage looking threaded Tange headset. We also wanted to add a vintage feel to the saddle, so we put it toghether using brass rivets. The front wheel is laced radial style & the back wheel has a flip flop hub, which makes it possible to choose whether you want to ride fixed gear or single speed."


Further more Tobias tells us that the goal was to design a bicycle for the modern man with excpetionally good taste. In our minds Sson has very successfully met & gone beyond that goal!

Once again we're at that time of the month! This time we're throwing the After Work party in collaboration with New York label Steven Alan! As usual we're hosting the always lovely Pleasant Bar & lil;D from Name In Lights is djing throughout the evening.
